Energy Performance certificates are stored on National EPC Register and can be obtained any time in its Life. Legal validity of Energy Performance Certificate is 10 years and it expires at the exact date written on it but it stays on the EPC register UK.
It can only be replaced with a new EPC and that is available for its life again. Once an energy assessor lodges its report he is there for ever unless replaced.

If your property had an epc certificate anytime in the past it can be accessed from National epc register.
You will need your Postcode to reach out to a list of properties and then open your certificate from your address link. Once you open it you can send it to your estate agent or download it for your records or print it to display in your property(Scotland).
